Recital and Nerves
Today is another piano recital. My son has been taking piano lessons for six years and is an advanced pianist. He will be playing Chopin's Minute Waltz. He is also playing guitar and cello with the chamber ensemble (on some Beatles and Led Zepplin tunes). He is ready -- having played the last two weeks with near perfection. Still, he tends to get nervous right before he plays. We laugh because he typically has each piece memorized and it is the memorization that throws him off. He gets "lost" in the music and will forget where he is at. His teacher requires him to read from the music, just to help him stay on track. I am sure he will do just fine -- he always seems to pull it off, no matter how difficult or complex the piece of music.
Now...if I could just get my nerves in order. For some reason, I am nervous for him today. Ugh! What is a mother to do?
